About G Co. 2/3oth Living History Group
This unit was started on the idea of preserving the memory of the courageous men who fought not only in the 2nd Battalion 30th Infantry Regiment but in the 3rd Infantry Division. We are based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with an emphasis on authenticity.In the 30th we want to accurately portray a 3rd ID soldier and strive to do so.
So many battles that the 3rd fought in are forgotten. Operation Dragoon( August 1944), which the 3rd participated in was a largely forgotten operation that is overshadowed by Operation Overlord that took place in June 1944. I wanted to to bring to life the men of the 3rd and preserve their history. These men took part in so many brutal battles during the Italian Campaign and endured hardships in the Colmar Pocket. History is something that can be easily forgotten and the events can be easily forgotten. I wanted to bring this together to make sure it is not.

This idea to start this living history group came to fruition in 2019 with a lot of time spent researching. Many hours were spent reading, looking at reports, and gazing at photographs. Finally, I read a book written by H Company 2/30th Infantry Regiment veteran Al Brown called "My Comrades and Me", "Blue and White Devils", and "The History of the Third Infantry Division in World War II". After reading these books it brought it all together.
